http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.htmlthis one you will need to make a bootable disk set the BIOS to optical (or USB if preferred) boot the machine and let it run for at LEAST 8 passes unless the errors come up straight away. Takes a fair time to complete and some leave it running overnight.
If you do get errors and have more than one stick then you will need to test each one separately and maybe even in the separate slots.
In the pic errors after just one pass so you must run at least 8 passes any less is useless.

thanks guys for ur help i must try out this and see.when i got this laptop i pulled it apart and cleaned it out put on new cpu paste and put a new wd 500gb hdd in it

Now if this doesn't fix the problem Joseph I still think a memtest would be worth the effort and it would at very least eliminate that issue.

Let us know how it goes if you want any more info on the disassembly of that machine let me know.

i bought the hdd bran new its a wd 500gb hdd and got warranty like the 64bit win 7 tbh im thinking its maybe one of the addblockers i have loaded is freezing the laptpop

well i did it the right way but i dont know why going great one minute then random freeze.think i might buy a new sony vaio one

Joseph mate the drive like anything ie a car can be brand new and still go off the rails - I am not saying it has but don't be fooled by it being new. Personally I have had a fair bit of trouble with WD and prefer Seagate stuff. Actually if you could afford it an SSD is the best thing to have as there are many moving parts inside a spinner that can go wrong, whereas the SSD is pretty well less susceptible to direct impacts and getting too close to strong magnetic fields even thought they do have rare earth magnets inside them for the actuation arm mechanism etc.

But back on track I think what Greg said re the restore is still worth a shot and if you do run a test on the drive you can use Seatools or the WD test stuff for looking at the partitions and data based stuff like that and also do a physical surface test with Partition Wizard it looks at the surface of the platters and to some extent the read / write actuating arms and heads. Hmm well most fixes suggested (at least by me and I reckon Greg as well) are really elimination processes and I always start with the simple stuff because I am not expert when it gets heavy going with the partitions and stuff like that which is really the realm of Greg.

Please look at the Clean Reinstall tutorial to confirm those are the steps you followed, particularly how drivers are handled which is not at a like XP.

Try one of the recommended AV'S if you're still running Kapersky. Uninstall it.

Then if necessary complete the Troubleshooting Steps under picture below.
