win 7 ultimate x64 can't recognize my intel hd graphic card

hello there

i bought recently an HP G62-b31ee, it had linux os pre installed but they installed win7 (after formatting the hard drive )

all drivers works fine except the graphic card

- when i opened device manager i found (standard vga graphics adaptor) under display adapters

- i searched for the drivers and found the right version from HP & Intel sites, but failed to install them (neither running the .exe way nor "have a disk" way)

- i surfed the forum looking for a solution in some similar cases but nothing worked


- here is my notebook specifications :

It should work .

As i said, i tried it and another one from intel website

running the exe leads to this message after extracting files (in attachments)

extracting the files and adding the driver manually from device manager ends into a (yellow marked driver) the system says it can't load the driver

That is the problem with HP ... they dont provide any drivers bundled with their products . Do you know what is the motherboard of this model ? You may consult with them who have installed windows there for you , they may have some idea . If they are computer sellers , they must have various drivers for different kinds of boards and cards .

At the risk of being insulting, are you sure that you have an Intel model?

HP lists both Intel and AMD drivers for the G62-b31ee:

@bobkn well, i didn't try the AMD driver before, the notebook specifications plus the data on the package says the same about the graphic driver : Intel HD graphics, but i'll give it a try

Please run the DirectX Diagnostics Tool (dxdiag) and output it here.
Also, do you have any Service Packs installed?

Try this utility Unknown Device Identifier a freely downloadable program. This will help you in identifying the graphic chips used on the motherboard. You can search on internet based on the results.

Another way is to try Microsoft Update from within Windows 7. Sometimes if lucky a suitable driver may be found.

Is this the one you tried from Intel? It's 64-bit specific.

Version: 15.22.50.64.2509 (The sequence of numbers must match exactly.)

Before you load any drivers, make sure your Windows 7 is up to date.

Check to see if your BIOS version is F.47. Update it if it's not.

Then download and install the HD driver package.

Edit: Thought for sure you had 32-bit. Changed to x64.

@rraod i'm running now an update, let's hope something changed..
i downloaded the app you suggested, it only picked the drivers listed in device manager

btw.. when i installed the driver manually before, i ran a system update, it found an update to the driver
installed it and nothing changed

yes, i tried this version (and another one, a prev version i think )

i made a win update .. tried again but nothing changed
the bios is up to date, i even tried the bios update before and found the same version already (F.47)

According to the specifications from the link, your laptop has a one VGA output port besides the display. I'm beginning to think you got what you got. And that is VGA. You can have 720i and above (HD) via VGA so I think you're reading more into your PC than the specs supply. If it works, go with it. The drivers are for specific chip sets. While the processor supports HD (which would include DVI and HDMI) your motherboard chip set is VGA format. It's probably the reason you can't load the other drivers. Your machine "does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". That pretty much says it all.
