Win 7 upgrade iso will not boot

Yes thanks the USB stick has now installed win 7 64-bit upgrade on 2 of the three machines, about to start the 3rd. The Win 7s come from the VLSC. Just purchased via Techsoup.

In the future after you set up one install as you want it you can SysPrep the HD to remove all drivers, activation and hardware ID's to move HD or its image to new hardware: SysPrep to move HD to another computer

The SysPrepped image can then be stored to apply your Win7 installation to any machine in the future and it will start up already set up with your programs ready to run.

I wanted to do that, but frustration kicked in and I didn't want to try any more new things today. I really had it figured that 10-12 hours would suffice to build 3 machines and get them fully set up. Well, building took 5 hours but I've been messing with one OS-related problem or another ever since, maybe 16 hours. For instance, you apparently can't download an iso to a Macbook and then transfer it to a PC without the iso being converted to a folder ....

Tried the MS tool to burn a DVD. Same as before.

The USB drive successfully booted, however. So, I have a solution but not an answer.

Could it be the HP media? I was trying two different types:
HP Double Layer 8X DVD+R 8.5GB
HP 16x DVD-R 4.7GB

Best to use DVD+R 4.7GB.
