Hi,

On my otherwise stable 32bit Win7 Ultimate Retail Asus P8H67-M PRO MOBO/Intel I5-2400/4GB system built in early April 2011, whenever I have my D-Link DPH-50U (also known as ATCOM AU-600) USB Analog Telephone Adapter for Skype plugged in, Win7 crashes when entering the Sleep state. Skype itself is not running when Win7 attempts to enter Sleep mode.

Other than the crash entering sleep with the DPH-50U plugged in, Win7 behaves without issue, and the DPH-50U works correctly when connected to Skype. If I unplug the DPH-50U, Win7 successfully enters the Sleep state without issue.

I have tried multiple workarounds without success such as installing the DPH-50U drivers in different compatibility modes (e.g., XP SP2, Vista, etc), setting the installed DPH-50U applications in different compatibility modes, and using different system USB ports. I am using the most recent available drivers which are Vista 32bit capable.

I would like to leave the DPH-50U plugged in full-time to benefit from Sleep power savings without the hassle of constantly plug-in/unplugging the unit.

Any suggestions based on the attached log files would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for helping.

Hello,

I hate to be the one to say this, but I'll just have to bite the bullet I guess. You're experiencing a driver issue, as you already know. Really, your only options are to keep on doing what you have been, or downgrade to an earlier OS such as Vista or XP.

I suppose there's a chance you could try installing drivers for some similar but newer device. If you're up for it, start downloading drivers for similar models, give them a shot.

So far a workaround for my Sleep Windows 7 crash problem appears to be working.

I added a PCI card with four USB ports, plugged in the D-Link ATA USB adapter into it, and made sure the motherboard BIOS power management had “Power on by PCI” Disabled --- and so far it works!

Windows 7 power management must go only as far as the PCI card, and does not/can not interact with the attached D-Link ATA.

Now the system goes to sleep without crashing. And during normal operation, Skype sees the D-Link ATA and all work together successfully.

Thank you for your suggestion that the problem was with the drivers. Yes, I think that is the problem.
