Win7 Doesn't See Tuner Card

It's an odd situation.

I have a multi-boot system; I can boot into WinXP or Win7. The OSs are installed in separate partitions and the boot manager at startup lets me choose which I want. Normally I run the default - Win7.

A few months back I began having trouble with my motherboard, an Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi AP. The system would refuse to boot at a cold start until I'd powerdown/powerup about five or six times and then I'd be off and running with no problems until the next cold boot. At first I thought the problem was memory or power supply, but nope -- after trying everything I could think of, I put all my components on a new motherboard -- Asus P5Q Pro Turbo -- and now my boot problems have gone away, apparently for good.

Now you'd think I'd have done the smart thing and reinstalled my OSs from scratch with the new Mbo, but I didn't. I thought I'd see how things went with WinXP and Win7 when they saw a new motherboard, and sonofagun, it all seemed to work just fine. Yes, both OSs began loading driver after driver at boot, but pretty soon everything was working again and I was happy. Until I tried to watch TV with my ATI TV Wonder HD 650 PCIE tuner card. It works fine under WinXP but Win7 no longer sees it.

I had Windows Media Center working fine under Win7 Ultimate before the mbo switch. And it continues to work fine under WinXP. But Win7 just doesn't see the card. It's not listed in Device Manager as a mystery device or anything -- it just isn't there.

Now if I switch the card into a different PCIE socket, Win7 reacts by indicating it's found a new device and it loads a sound driver under Sound, Video and Game Controllers -- it's the ATI Unified AVStream driver. But that's it. I can find no other device in Device Manager that looks even a bit like the tuner card.

Everest, a system monitoring program, sees it. Calls it ATI Theater 650 TV Card. But there's nothing like that in Device Manager.

If it were in Device Manager and weren't working, I'd try loading different drivers for it or deleting it so it would load again or something. But it's not there!

Anybody know how I can persuade Win7 -- which USED TO see the device on the other motherboard -- to find this tuner card? Media Center won't work without it. Thanks.

The tuner is that new "sound card" device as best as Win7 can determine. Delete it and install the tuner driver per the manufacturer's instructions.

I have a Theater 550 pro installed using the latest 10.5 Catalyst suite and it works fine under W7 x64

there is no installed device named "ATI Theater 550 Pro" anywhere to be found in the W7 Device Manager on my PC and it confused me at first also but since it worked with no problems I never really gave it much thought

the tuner is listed as ATI Unified AVStream Driver under sound, video, and game controllers tab in the Device Manager
