Hi All,

I'm new to the forum, so please excuse if this is in the wrong place or has already been asked etc

I have 2 DVD/Blu-ray devices, both are working fine. However, since I did the most recent Windows 7 updates, they no longer appear in the Device Manager and are not available to e.g. windows media player.

I've tried a host of things, updating the BIOS, messing with the reg keys etc - all per online advice, but still no joy.

I say they are working fine, because I booted into Linux from a USB stick and they work.

So it's almost definitely a windows problem.

Anyone have a clue as to why this might have happened? - and how to resolve?

I may just have to do a system restore, but hoping not to.

Many thanks,
Dan

Hi DMStone79,

Welcome to SevenForums!

[1] Under the heading msinfo32 [MS System Information] - Problem Devices . . ., please run MS_Info32_Find_Problem_Devices.bat, Option [2] from here => BATCH PROGRAMS [Standalone] and then upload the results using the tutorial at the bottom of the above link [Upload to SevenForums . . .] and someone will look at it for you.

[2] If you have got a System Restore Point prior to this happening you could also try that!

I hope this helps!

Hi Paul,

Thank you for that. I ran the file and it says "NO PROBLEM DEVICES WERE FOUND, deleting the EMPTY file..."

Is it not a known issue?

Thanks again,
Dan

Are the two DVD/Blu-ray devices seen by BIOS?
It can be a that the SATA ports are disabled on BIOS.
