HI,Well its been awhile since i have been on this forum, but here is my little problem my PC has not worked for a few months can not connect to the internet have tried just about everything even buying a Ethernet card
still could not hook up internet.
I have gotten LAN adapters not working, bad cables (hooked PC up to my sons internet cable still would not work).
The thing that really irks me right now and this has happened twice in lower right corner of screen it it displaying that the copy WIN 7 is not legitimate which came in a sealed box with the numbers that i called into M/S to activate the OS.
I have come to the point of going to WALMART and buying a refurbished PC with WIN 7 installed.

HI,Heres where i am at today.
Well i hope i am not getting the cart before the horse, but i went REVO UNINSTALLER and totally removed AVAST from
my PC and so far i far i have a internet connection and the only way i found out about AVAST having a firewall was by
accident when i tried to disable said firewall i could not locate where it was at.
Revo said to restart PC to totally remove any and all remnants of AVAST,clicked on FIREFOX icon and i came in a blink of an eye doing updates right now just need to keep fingers crossed,GUESS WHO WILL NOT BE ON MY PC.

You can disable or even NOT install the Avast Firewall. I run the free version of Avast with no issues. My Firewall is the Windows 7 one and my web connection is just fine. Make sure that your router is not causing any issues, while you are at it.

It is really important these days to have an active Anti Virus running. You should also install Malwarebytes and use it from time to time to insure that no nasties are getting in. I do not recommend paid versions, others might.

I'd use one of the free recommended lightweight AV's like MSE from Clean Reinstall Windows 7
which will also show you how to get and keep a perfect install, much better than any that would come preinstalled on a new PC.

Another thing you can do to see immediate improvement is type msconfig in Start Search box, rightclick to Run as Admin, on Startup and Services (after Hiding all MS Services) uncheck everything except your AV and any sync. All others are freeloaders that don't need to start with WIndows until you start them yourself. This is the biggest thing you can do to Clean Up Factory Bloatware
