Win7 PC slow to resume from sleep

Hi,

I am having problems with my Win7 PC which is periodically slow to resume from sleep, it will either:

1. take about 30 secs to go from password screen to show desktop
2.Go straight to normal screen of app that was open and allow typing etc. there but for about 30 secs is slow to open new programs or open for example Control Panel.
3.Get back from sleep in a few seconds and function normally.

I have checked "view performance details in the event log" and see a few things but nothing seems to correspond with 30 seconds of slow response. I do get errors corresponding to a USB driver, but they seem to only occur if I have something plugged into the USB hub ports on my Apple Cinema Display. It goes away if I use a port on the PC itself.

Doesn't seem like enough time to be noticeable.

System Specs is up to date, note op system is on 128GB Sandisk SSD. Appreciate any assistance with trouble shooting.

This could help stabilize the usb problem possibly.
IT would seem a older driver is getting in the way. That's my first guess anyhow.

Here is something else you can do that may help prevent usb faults.

To Disable Selective Suspend:

open the control panel
go to power options (you may have to set view to small icons)
click change plan settings
in the window that opens:
click change plan settings
click change advanced power settings, expand usb and ensure usb selective suspend is disabled.
(I do this on all my systems, the feature seems to cause more problems than anything.)

should have mentioned I went to Gigabyte site and confirmed all Gigabyte drivers were up to date. Not convinced it's a USB problem, but went and changed that setting, didn't seem to make a noticeable difference, about 30 seconds for anything apart from typing in the window you were in when PC went to sleep.

Start by working through the steps in http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/63567-power-options-sleep-mode-problems.html.

How long has the problem been going on? If it's within the time you have available System Restore point try rolling it back, taking note of what programs were installed since. Then you have a suspect to troubleshoot and a known-good point in time you can capture an image of.

Sleep issues often involve Display driver so check frequently optional Windows Updates after enabling Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware to see if Win7 has a driver it wants used. Then try also drivers from the Display device's Support Downloads webpage including past drivers up to and including any Vista. For reference your previously installed drivers remain cued in Device Manager on Device's Driver tab>Update Driver>Browse>Let me pick. So there may be older drivers which worked there now.

In Device Manager check your Display and Network adapter for Power Management tabs to try a different setting. Check other Power Options settings besides Selective Suspend including Hybrid Sleep and the performance of Hibernate. To test various settings set Sleep at 1 minute and Hibernate at 2, then watch.

You already know how to scan the logs so try also Admin events log besides Performance to google repeat errors. Other system resources to gather clues are in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

looked over the suggestions, can't see anything obvious, I'll go ahead and run the trace. Assume I want a sleep trace?

I can't see a sleep trace in the tutorial. Do I do startup shut down or restart trace or is there another command for sleep?

Just use the trace option "standby" for sleep - so, same command as any other trace option (boot, rebootCycle, etc), but use the word "standby" instead in the command line.

Ok now SDK won't install I installed .net 4 (full version) as I thought that might help, but no go. Not sure where to go now.
