Did you uninstall any Windows Media Player-related codecs and programs by any chance?

edit...
Might as well try http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html too while you're at it.

arkhi~

I installed Win Media Codecs, and turned on aero gfx FX.

Not sure which one worked?? But I'm back in business :D:p

Now, I see my crappy HDD score!! Even though I run raid_0 array

it still reports a 5.9!! same as it was with Win7 Hp edition.

MS geeks don't care about raid_0 arrays though. I believe

they go by the specs of my twin 250gig Sata2 Caviar (or one hdd)

So time to get a couple (2) more HDD's and config 4 raid_0 again.

Any SUGGESTIONS for new HDD's that are fast, and reasonable.

:shock::cry::(

Considering the nature of the error message, I'd say the codecs were the one that worked, lol.

As for the HDD score, Windows won't go above 5.9 as long as it's not an SSD. So unless you want to go spend money on some SSDs, don't let yourself get bothered by the 5.9 score that much.

If you want, you can go look at the following file for a complete breakdown of your score

Code:
"C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore\xxxx-xx-xx xx.xx.xx.xxx Disk.Assessment (Recent).WinSAT.xml"

If you look at the following values (this is from my non-raid score), you would notice that the one you have deserves more than a 5.9 :D :D :D

-<DiskMetrics>
<AvgThroughput score="6.3" ioSize="65536" units="MB/s" kind="Sequential Read">86.10125</AvgThroughput>
<AvgThroughput score="4.0" ioSize="16384" units="MB/s" kind="Random Read">1.53000</AvgThroughput>
<Responsiveness score="5.7" units="ms/IO" factor="0.0" Kind="AverageIORate">4.21000</Responsiveness>
<Responsiveness score="7.4" units="units" factor="0.0" Kind="GroupedIOs">8.62606</Responsiveness>
<Responsiveness score="7.3" units="units" factor="0.0" Kind="LongIOs">10.32952</Responsiveness>
<Responsiveness score="6.8" units="units" factor="0.0" Kind="Overall">89.10314</Responsiveness>

..and the line that makes it impossible to go above 5.9:

<Responsiveness Kind="Cap" Reason="PASSED">FALSE</Responsiveness>

(Oh yeah, and I heard SATA III is fast; haven't tested it, but worth a try)
