Win7 vs Win10

Windows has an airplane mode?
8 and 10 do, they wont charge off an adapter that is higher than 65w in that mode.
Thanks. I was unaware of it.
Not much discussion of it anywhere, but it is there.
I guess not many people started using it until Win8

Most laptops do not pull over 65 watts on their charger so it probably never trips the change. My P50 uses a 170w brick and will only run but not charge the battery on the 65w varmint charger (this is the slim charger for all the ultra books).

Absolute nonsense, Windows 10 is much faster.

Do you have any specific reasons for believing this?

I have been fortunate to have a side-by-side comparison of the two. Here are my observations:

About six months ago we were issued new laptops at my job. Prior to the upgrade, we had Windows 7 and MS Office 2010. After the upgrade, we now have Windows 10 and MS Office 2016.

I am doing exactly the same things now as I did before the upgrade, accessing and working on the same documents. Everything is slower. Here are the two most common causes of the slowness:
  • Many times you have to click two, or even three, times on something, in order for it to take. And you can't double click; you have to click once, wait a second, then click again. I have multiple screens; I double clicked on a shortcut which was on another screen; nothing happened. I double-clicked again; the document opened.
  • If I choose "save-as" on any type of document (text, etc), and I work my way to the desired folder and then click on the listing of a file already in that folder (so that I can simply modify the name rather than retyping it from scratch), as soon as I delete the undesired characters in the name, the cursor disappears for a few seconds. I then have to click in the name field, wait a second, then click again to unhighlight the name so that I can type in the field.

Not really wanting to get into this BUT...........

mrjimphelps I submit that your older machines were probably a little heftier spec-wise. I have no problems such as you describe, at all. Maybe you should have your IT person look at your machine too. I dual-booted 7 and 10 for awhile, same machine-same specs and 10 was much quicker also.

Having said THAT let me say THIS : Use the OS you want to. If you prefer 7 then use 7, same for 10 or Vista for that matter. I am constantly amazed that people feel the need to slam and put down what they don't like. I don't much care for 7 anymore and will not willingly use it BUT I DO NOT SLAM IT. Its just not for me anymore.

Indianacarnie:

Thanks for your response. One thing I have noticed about Windows 10 is that one click is usually not sufficient in many situations. If I have two windows open, and I want to do something in the non-active window, I must first click in that window, wait a second, then click again. The first click makes the other window active, then the second click puts the cursor in the right spot and lets me start working at that spot. I never noticed this with Windows 7. It's as if Microsoft, for whatever reason, has decided to make you click once to activate the window before you can then click again and start working in that window. With Windows 7, your first click was all that was needed to start working in another window.

Hi,
10 when you hover over a window it activates it as the active window so clicking on it isn't necessary scrolling is already ready.
The feature is on by default so I doubt it's off in I believe mouse settings.

7 one has to click on the window to activate it...

I've found 10 really hates mice and blue tooth as well last update killed blue tooth again but isn't that part of the fun :)

Windows 7. It runs more smoothly on both my sister's Toshiba and my Acer, both of which are low-end, compared to Windows 10. 10 was completely unusable on the Toshiba! :P

Plus, it looks and feels much nicer than Windows 10.

Last time I post in this thread but I HAVE to say something. (First though ..... Hi everyone! Nice "seeing" some of you again as I come here seldom these days and miss some of you.)(shout out to Lady Fitzgerald and Thrash Zone in particular!)

Now ........ what I have to say. I really and I mean REALLY can't wrap my head around this thread and others like it. (i hate w10. - Windows 7 Help Forums) I mean..... why? Why the need to go on about how 10 sux or whatnot? If you don't like it, don't use it. Plain and simple as that. But the constant urge to talk about it..... I mean really, come on people. You will find NOTHING like this on TenForums. There's no threads about how 7 sux or how terrible 7 is or how they'll be on 10 (whatever build) for the rest of their lives. Many of us there still have 7 on either dual-boot machines (as I once did, but now dual boot Linux mint) or on various other machines. But there are no, none , nada, threads site-wide even remotely like this one (and others I've seen here). My question(?), observation(?) why? Why the need to slam something you don't even use? I don't like Apple but I don't dedicate whole threads to slamming down osx or whatever they are up to now. I don't choose to use it so........ I go on with my life using what makes me happy. Why is that not possible here? Anyway.

Believe Win7 is morphing into W10 via 'updates' with all the enhanced privacy/security issues built in.
