I was using my computer yesterday when the power in my house tripped out.
After getting the power back on, I restarted my computer. It said, 'starting windows' and I get the boot animation. After a while the screen goes black and then the brighter black (just before the mouse pointer and then the login screen appears) and then, nothing, and my monitor says 'no signal.' I've tried the boot repair and it said the computer could not boot last time (correct), then it tried to automatic repair, which it could not do.

I tried a boot repair a second time and it said it could not find any errors, but the system will still not boot (same original problem)

Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

thanks for quick reply.
I did as you suggested, but each time startup repair said the same things after a few seconds: Startup Repair could not detect a problem.

Are you able to login under Safe Mode?

wow! I don't know if your suggestion should have said anything different than 'Startup Repair could not detect a problem' three times, but I unplugged 2 external usb drives that are bitlocker encrypted, and my usb bluray drive and the system booted up. plugged the usbs back in again when windows was running, let the system detect them and rebooted. all seems fine.

Thanks so much for your help.

I'm glad it's working. Thanks for reporting back :)
