hi
I hope to get some advice and perhaps some answers to question of why it happens
I bought a secondhand desktop pre loaded with Windows 7.
It worked great on the user account and it did not need a password to load Windows.
However I did some updates and did a hard reset
Upon reboot Windows now requires a password
I don't have the password as I never set one
I did not need a password when I did soft reboot ( restarts)
I'm now locked out of Windows as I don't know the windows password that I never set in the first place
I don't have the Windows 7 disk to repair Windows
I can enter the bios but I see that no passwords are set on the bios
I tried to enter boot via safe mode to command prompt but it still requires a password so I can't get into Windows to change a password that I never set in the first place
I don't have the means to make a password reset disk as I have no other Windows machine
I phoned the shop I bought the secondhand computer from but the owner is on leave for two weeks
What I need to understand is why does Windows insist on setting a password on preloaded "user accounts"
If the password was set by the computer guy at the secondhand shop Why did Windows suddenly decide to that password was needed when it was able to log into Windows previously without one
And finally and most importantly how the heck am I going to get logged into the machine with a password I neither know nor did I set it
King regards
