Solved Window 7 Professional 32bit - Windows Error Recovery Endless Loop

sadly none of them fixed my problem.

Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.
HP Desktop.

Boot from the Win 7 DVD, go to repair and launch the CMD.
Find the Windows drive by typing dir C: and dir D:
Run check disk: type chkdsk x: /f (where X: is your Windows drive)
Run System file check: type sfc /scannow

here's the output after running the command you give.
for chkdsk:
1. windows has checked the file system and found no problems
2. the last message: Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50.
for sfc /scannow:
1. there is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. restart windows and run sfc again.

after restarting the computer, the windows recovery error appears again, i selected "run windows normally" and wait hoping it will load. after the windows logo it returns to the "windows error recovery". i restarted the computer and boot the dvd. run the chkdsk and sfc on command. still gave me the same result.

It seems that a update that require a restart failed to complete the installation.
Can't help you further as I don't know what to do.
Did you try to boot on Safe Mode?

It's just those weird things that prompt us old timers to say, "Backup! Backup! Backup!"


With FREE backup software so easy to download from the Internet, there is really NO good reason for anyone to not have their C: drive backed up to either a DVD or USB drive.


That's the answer to every question, "what do I do now?". The answer being that you boot your PC to your recovery disk and Restore your last C: drive backup. That must be an 'Image' file and not just a data backup.



I'm still using a program that I got, initially, back in 1997, with some updates. It's "Ghost 11.5" and I use
it at least once a week to back up my C: drive to both a 1TB External drive and a 128GB Flash Drive.
I also have a clone of my C: drive, on a 2TB internal HD.


Remember: "The only bad backup is the one you decided you didn't want to make".:sarc:

I'm reminded, of something I've done in the past, for a customer who did not have any viable backups, and windows was corrupted beyond repair:


I've removed the hard drive from its parent case and connected it to my own PC as a Slave Drive.
Then I could access it via my own Windows Explorer and locate all the data files and copy them to an external HD or USB Flash Drive.


Having the data files saved off of the original drive, I would re-install whatever version of Windows that had been installed on the drive. (I have almost every version of Windows, on DVD's)


Once the HD is re-installed in the original case and Windows is installed and set up on the drive, then the data files can be returned to the drive, and after some tweaking and tuning, the PC can be up and running
again, better than new. I've had to do that now, many times, and I always make a backup of the end result, just for future security.


That's not my favorite way of fixing a PC, but it always works.

thanks for all the comments.

it looks bad.
sad to say that i dont have any img file to use as a recovery.
there is no saved restore point on the system.

yes i can still access the files saved in the harddrive. but the more important is the application running in that computer.
installed there are electronic catalogues for different car makes and models.
in which installation of these application are far more expensive than the operating system.

is there any way i can recover the installed applications.?

yes i tried to boot on safe mode, after loading the drivers, it returns to windows recovery error.

good day to all of you

specially for those who gave suggestions and help, to megahertz and technomage

regarding the "sfc /scannow" tried but did not solve the problem.
after looking for other forums and with help of google for research.
i end up on this solution.

on command prompt

1. "sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=d:\windows" directory of my hard drive.
- did not able to run, saying that tehere is a pending scan and need to restart.
2. checked in other forum to remove this pending scan.
- deletel d:\windows\winsxs\pending.xml
3. on directory x: run again sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=d:\windows

restart and this solve the problem.
hope someone will also help this solutions.
