I'm not sure if this is where i post but here's my problem. I updated to Windows 10 and i didn't like so i wanted to go back to my Windows 7. They give you 30days to go back, I only used it for 8 days .When i went to downgrade it back the option wasn't there. So then i tried to make a Windows 7 installation disk from the Windows web site, but it said put in your Windows 7 product key. I found the product key and put it in and it said "The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer". Now i have no idea what to do next. I just want Windows 7 back.

Hello and welcome Cheza916 you are just one of many posts we are currently getting re this issue bit anyway can you do this please first

SYSTEM SPECS ADD IN

Can we have some systemspecs please as what you have posted gives us not that much (or anythingat all with some folks) to work with and given there are so many manufacturersof components and configurations that do influence what goes on within anygiven machine and OS.
System Info - See YourSystem Specs

The machine mate was it bought by you new and have you ever made any backups of it either by imaging or more drastic cloning ??

The issue is that the system was installed on a mass licence and that code is no good to you you need to know what cod was originally used by the people who installed it - I would hazard a guess at nil chance.

The other thing you could try is phoning Microsoft and explain your predicament and they are usually obliging given the circumstances - just make sure you have that product key handy when you do phone them.

The alternative is to buy another OEM but they are getting hard to find now and are quite expensive. It is a shame that some form of warning is not given to users re the problems that might arise.I personally cloned the original drives and then used the clone for the 10 experiment and just as well the laptop went down the toilet while the desktop is still ok although I am not keen on 10. I just swapped the original drives back in and 7 is there.
