Microsoft's primary interest is money. Shorter upgrade cycles help Microsoft and everyone in the computer food chain from hardware to forced app upgrades.
The latest is the not optional Windows 10 nag screen on your taskbar.
I have put together a couple of scripts I found on other websites an made them single click easy to use.
It will completely remove the Windows 10 nag screen and associated usage capture spyware that uploads how you use your computer to Microsoft. It prevents it from coming back.
What it does is uninstall updates KB2952664, KB2990214, KB3022345 and KB3035583. Then it removes the junk GWX entries from the registry. Then it checks with Microsoft for updates and hides the above updates so they will not be reinstalled.
If you change your mind you can simply go to windows update in control panel and unhide the above updates and get them back.
I am using Win 7 but it should work just fine on Vista and Win 8.
BlockWin10NAG.bat must be run as an elevated command file. That means with administrator privileges and not have UAC (User Account Control) interfere. Everything is done using two scripts so you can view them with notepad and see exactly what it's doing to your computer. Sleep.exe is a wait timer... nothing nefarious.
Instructions for use are simple. Download and unzip the file. It's actually a folder when you unzip it. Then open the folder BlockWin10NAG and double click on BlockWin10NAG.bat. Be patient. The check for updates can take a long time... It will tell you when it's done. Restart your computer and boom... The nag is gone for good.
