Bios update fixed my freezing. Been a few days now and no issues. Tried memory swap early on and had same problem. Spent 7 hours (W7, Vista, W7 w Vista drivers, Back to XP, Ubuntu, Uninstall, Reinstall, etc) prior to updating the bios and wish I had done it sooner. It even froze when I tried Ubuntu as alternative. That would seem to make it not a W7 driver issue as I originally suspected.
