Windows 7 64 bit or 32 bit 2GB Ram - Please Read

I know this question has been asked a lot but here goes. I have a Dell Inspiron 530s with a Core 2 Duo E6550 processor and 2 GB DDR ram. I am only going to be using this computer as a media server, running iTunes to connect to my AppleTV. What do you advise installing for my use, 32 or 64 bit? Thanks for your help in advance.

32 bit. The main reason to install 64 bit is if you have more than 4GB of RAM. In addition the 64bit uses more of the available RAM thus leaving less for applications.

However, if you plan on adding more memory then install the 64 bit. 2GB of RAM is what Microsoft lists as minimum for the 64 bit OS.

My main PC which has Windows 7 64bit runs all my applications and has 16GB of RAM. The only program I plan to run on my older Dell Inspiron is iTunes just so my Apple TV can access media files such as movies, music and photos so it sounds like 1.) I don't need to upgrade my RAM and 2.) the 32 bit Windows 7 should be absolutely fine.

Hi, also there is a high chance the CPU you have was designed for 32 bit architecture as well.
So yes, Win 7 32 bit will do all you ask with 2 gig of Ram.
