windows 7 64bit and windows 7 32 bit shared printer

Hi I am not a 100 percent sure if this a first or not but I have a samsung clp-300 hooked up to my 64 bit win 7 and am sharing on the network with a 32 bit win 7. Every time I try to print from the 32 bit win 7 I keep getting an error "windows cannot print due to current printer setup". I have looked through the internet and this forum but, everyone seem to have problems between different OS's and non of the solution worked for me at all. The printer shows up in all the programs on the 32 bit and I have put it as default yet I cant print anything from the 32 bit at all. Some help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using Homegroups for networking your Windows 7 machines?

thanks for the link I tried this as you suggested but no luck their. Every time I try to put in the name of the port I get the error "the system cannot find the file specified". Also yes I am using the tool that came with windows 7 to create a homegroup. File sharing and media streaming seem to work fine except for printing which is really baffeling me since the OS is suppose to be sooo user friendly.

It sounds like the 32 bit drivers aren't installed or something. Have you tried to connect the printer directly to the 32 bit machine to see if it finds any drivers? I'm sure you went into printer properties and shared your printer from the 64 bit machine?

Be sure and restart your machines after you make changes to the Printer properties or sharing settings.

My apologies I made a mistake when writing the name of my pc. Instead of writing "mypcname-pc" I wrote "mypcname" forgetting to add -pc at the end. Although I am greatful that the printer works now I am pretty disappointed at windows seven which was suppose to be more user friendly and set things up without any problems.

Yes those names need to be correct and no doubt that is too easy of a mistake to make. You have to realize though that certain things are still up to the user to get set correctly like user names and also making sure that the same Workgroup name is used on all machines. I'm a bit surprized that you were able to share files and stream when the user names weren't correct. I was getting no clues from that.

Well actually the only place I had the name wrong was when inputing it into the port name portion of the tutorial you directed me too. The homegroup was set up by windows 7 during the installation phase and all I did was copy the homegroup password from the 64 bit version and input it into the 32 bit version.

Oh I see, well that is an easy mistake to make with all the \\user-PC stuff you have to remember. You would think that the Win 7 GUI would be able to get the printer shares working but everyone seems to be having problems doing it that way.
