Windows 7 64bit Home Premium starts tasks I do not want running

Every time I start Windows 7, a bunch of tasks I don't want start themselves. Some are in the tray, some are running in the TASK MANAGER.
I then go to CCleaner that has a STARTUP tool that allows me to DISABLE or DELETE but I delete which I do to all except my Anti-virus and Firewall.

When I install a program, I DO check, "do not load at startup" but they seem to ignore it load their tasks anyway.
For example now, I have:
CCleaner
crashreporter.exe
SiteAdvisor
Sink to receive asynchronous calls
Cyberlink
Snagit
etc

Most of these I think are agents to restart them but chances are, I will not use in this session and they take up memory, etc.

I can go to the Task Manager and "end process" for this session and DELETE them from CCleaner Startup but at reboot, there they are again.

IS THERE anyway to tell Windows STOP, or ask me, or something to exclude tasks from automatically starting?

Go to start button, then go to run
In run type msconfig then OK
In misconfig go to start up
Then check the ones you want to start up
Boot computer
What happens
If that does not work, it usually means that the program is made to be an automatic start up. In that case not much you can do.
Site Advisor you will need at start up or it cannot do its job

...also look in Administrative Tools in the Control Panel. Find the Task Scheduler and investigate the active tasks, you can change triggers and stuff there.

An easy way to deal with this is WinPatrol. There is both a free and paid version. The free works just fine for notifying you if a new startup is added, giving you the option to deny it. Also there is a tab in the window for StartUps. You can simply delete from the list. It just removes the start entry. Or you can set a delayed start.

It also has some other nice features like detecting start page change in your browser, changes to hosts file etc..

Usually when I install something that tries to set up an agent WinPatrol pops up the notice within a few seconds. I just click Deny.

Check the Options/Preferences settings of the programs you have installed.

Make sure that any "Start with Windows" options are deselected.
Also, there are other settings that may cause programs to start (like the "Monitoring" setting in CCleaner).

If this is still the HP Factory install then that is the worst possible install of WIn7 one can have, with the worst load in the industry of bloatware and duplicate utiltiies that interfere with better versions built into Win7. That's why tech enthusiasts prefer to Clean Reinstall Windows 7.4

Until then I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

It isn't enough to turn off all msconfig>Startups except your AV and any sync. On the msconfig>Services tab, after hiding all MS Services, all items there except AV and sync should also be unchecked.

I'd also turn off all Scheduled Tasks unless they have a purpose you want.
Use a free lightweight AV like the ones recommended in tutorial.

No Greg,

This is the load I took from your post on this forum. But, strange things are happening with this load, parameters are changing unexpectedly, and without me so I am thinking about doing another one.
Can you update me on the location of a new one as this load I got from this forum is quite old.

I tried to follow these links.....

page after page after page, then ended up on downloading RUFUS as it looked like a good start for creating an USB flash with Win 7 Home Premium, 64bit which is what mine are.

Then I ended up on a DIGITAL RIVER page which implies they have the proper image.

Is this the one you recommend to reload with? But i noticed, there seems to be lots of "images" people are touting.
