New forum member.

Dell Inspiron 1545 running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Laptop has no issues to speak of, except...often will not play Yahoo videos, although the lead-in ads play just fine.

“We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your internet connection or try reloading the video. Otherwise, check out one of these related videos.” (att.yahoo.com)

I have googled this error message but as yet have not found a working solution. Same problem on all browsers.

Thanks.

Hi sorry for the late response,
Those videos actually need no Adobe flash player to play
Depending on which browser your using,
Internet explorer use Gear symbol on the top right and Manage add-ons,
Adobe flash element click on it and click on Disable,
Close and hit the F5 key to refresh the page,

See what this does,
Use No Add-ons mode/ Click the Start button and type in the search box,
Internet explorer
Start-no%20add-ons-7.jpg

Click on the suggestion (No Add-ons) or it’s located at,
Start/ All programs/ Accessories folder/ System tools folder/ No add-ons.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/manage-add-ons#ie=ie-10-win-7
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/How-to-manage-add-ons-in-Internet-Explorer-9
If using ie10 the first link will apply to ie9 as well,
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/ie-crashes-stops-working#ie=ie-10-win-7

Activate EPM if on a 64 bit version of windows,
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/280434-internet-explorer-10-enable-32-bit-64-bit-ie10-windows-7-a.html#post2312336
Add the Run box to the Start menu list,
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/559-start-menu-add-run-button.html
Open the Run command and Paste this into it and Okay,
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff

Yahoo Videos Won't Play

Thanks, Thrash...

Followed your suggestions. (Flash was not listed as an add-on). EPM was enabled, extensions now off.

Restarted...and tried to play the same link you sent previously.

Problem persists--on IE, as well as Chrome and Firefox. Have zero problems playing other videos, Youtube, you name it. You would think the att.yahoo.com server might offer a helpful suggestion as to why "WE" are "experiencing technical difficulties." Yahoo's tip to click on "related videos" max nix as well.

It's a quirky thang...

I'm sure I can learn to live without Yahoo videos; a minor annoyance. Maybe I'll try some more searches using different key words.

Anyway, THANKS for tryin' !! :)

p.s. The ONLY place on my computer where Flash ("32-bit") logo appears is on my control panel under System and Security. I have 64-bit OS. Don't know if that means anything. Probably not.

Hi,
It means your using ie11 is why flash is only listed in control panel,
But if you click on Internet options in control panel and go to the Programs section and click on the Manage add-ons button,
It will auto switch the add-ons page to Show all then you'll see flash element listed = disable it,

You can also roll back to ie10 if you wish it is the more stable ie version imho,
If you choose to Uninstall ie9-10-11 see this,

See a video here Uninstall three versions of ie in about three minutes,

Yahoo Video Playback Fixed on IE !

TZ,

Disabling the Flash element using your method FIXED the Yahoo playback problem with IE 100 percent.

Problem solved, at least for IE. Thanks to my fellow Texan!

I hope Google will pull up this thread; I know I am not the only one to search this problem.

Clueless in Euless

p.s. Before I sign off on this thread and give you your deserved kudos, any suggestions how to get the same result for Firefox and Chrome? Simply disabling Flash in Firefox seems to disable Yahoo playback altogether. Not seeing Flash as a Chrome extension. I could always start a new thread for the other browsers and bother someone else...
