Hi Everybody,

I am new with Windows 7 and I am experiencing some problems with it and Borland C++ Builder 6. More specifically, my problems are the following ones:

1) header files have extension .h. These files are not listed in Control Panel | Programs | Default Programs | Set Associations. I would like to have them listed in. Could you please help me?

2) back-up files have extension .~cpp and .~h. These files are also not shown in Control Panel | Programs | Default Program | Set Association. I would like to have them listed in. Could you please help me?

3) I have accidentally associated the .~cpp files with Notepad. Now, I would like to restore the situation as it originally was, namely no programs associated to these .~cpp files. How can I do so?

Thank you in advance

Best Regards

Hi Shawn,

thanks for your help. The .h and .cpp file association has now been restored. I would like to submit you my last problem. Before writing my first post, I had autonomously tried to solve the problem by associating to the .~cpp file-type to C:\Windows\System32\Shell32.dll ( I had hoped, this would have solved my problem ). The effect of it is that, at this point, in the "Open with..." menu, the icon "Windows Shell library" appears.

Could you please help me to solve this problem?

Thank you very much in advance

Best Regards

Hi Shawn,

the - hopefully - last problem. The icons of the .~cpp files have a small rectangle inside them ( you can see it in the attached file ); here come two problems:

1) I cannot restore the icon of the .~cpp files to the original generic kind of icon ( see the attached "File Properties.jpg" file );
2) by double-click on the .~cpp files, I get the message: "The file XYZ.~cpp is not a valid Win32 application" ( see the attached "Message.jpg" file ).

Could you please help?

Thank you

Best Regards

Moreno

Moreno,

After you used the cpp download from above, did you restart the computer?

If you did, then you can try doing a system restore using a restore point dated before the file extensions got messed up by mistake to hopefully fix them for you.
