Windows 7 applications hidden under taskbar

Hello,

I'm using Windows 7 x64. I have placed the taskbar on top. I've noticed many applications will open at the top with the titlebar underneath the taskbar. This is extremely annoying and incredibly dumbfounding how Microsoft released Windows with this bug.

How do I resolve this so that applications recognize the boundary of the taskbar and not open underneath it?

Hello Zifnab, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It looks like you have a window that went offscreen somehow. You might see if using the tutorial below to move the affected window back to the center of your desktop, then close the window may help. The next time it's opened, it should open to how it was last closed.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I have the same problem

This happens to me, too, and autohiding the taskbar is not a good option because it doesn't always "hide". No matter where I place the taskbar, there's something under it that I want to access.

This happens in all applications that I've checked (Office applications, GIS software, and internet browsers), and seems to have started with a Windows update.

Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Stop Windows from hiding under taskbar when maximized

Hi All,
I had the same issue and was getting extremely frustrated with replies from people providing answers on how to enable and disable auto-hide and other common things which everyone could have found without creating a post
I found an article that mentioned magnifier but didn't post the solution unless you subscribed.
Here is what I did to resolve it.

Launch and enable the Magnifier and then disable it:

Click "Start" à "Control Panel (menu item)" à "Ease of Access Center (link)" à "Start Magnifier (push button)"
Then Close the magnifier

*Note: I logged out and back in for the magnifier to show.
