Windows 7 Basic Highlight color

First, I would like to pass my greetings to everyone since I am new here. I have been using computers since 1988, so I am definitely old-school, but I try to keep up.

Now for my question: I have a few applications which do not tolerate Aero themes very well. So, I switch to Basic. I hate the brilliant pale blue. Is there any way to change that to a different color?

Thank you! :-)

Thank you for the reply. I came across the page in the link above while doing a general web search. I looked at the three registry key sections in the yellow part of the page. On the surface, they seem to be for the "Windows Classic" profile only. I don't use that one because some of the screen elements are too small for me to see clearly with my bad eyes.

Turning off "desktop composition" gives the same appearance as the "Basic" profile. There may not be a way to change the powder-blue scheme to a different color.

Thanks!
:-)

I always make my own color schemes and sizes, don't bother with Aero. It's really the same as XP settings, but in a different place. I use Classic, and then change the color scheme and resize everything. My scheme is usually a mix of pale green, yellow and blue.
In the tutorial, use Option Two, then #7.

Some may think this strange. I don't use wallpapers. I keep it a black background. Having bad eyes, as I mentioned, makes it less confusing, visually.

I've had problems with Aero before. Everything will be running fine, then the screen will blank a second, and come back in a basic scheme. All the while, the hard drive is thrashing away.

I am running a customized classic scheme. I wish the task bar at the bottom was just a little bit smaller.

I think you would have to play with the registry for that, depending on how badly you want it.
