Windows 7 - Blue screen upon Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 startup

When I start CoD MW3 on my computer, I'm getting blue screen and a restart. Would love help, it's annoying to buy a game you can't play :/

try updating the direct x runtime

We are always happy to help but we need to start somewhere and if you tell us more about the problem, we can get to the answer quicker... or at least try. Otherwise, we will advise on things that perhaps you have already done yourself.

I would try uninstalling the game and installing it back w/o antivirus on. I would also try uninstalling and installing fresh audio and video drivers.

I'm glad that you wanna help. I did all the things u said, still have the same problem. One of my friends told me it was a problem with my RAM, when it got a blue screen where it ''restore'' (I think it's called restore, can't remember) the data and restart my computer? I just don't know how to change that, you can see which RAMs I have in my profile i think. I wonder why it's a problem with them?

Btw. I just update my DirectX Runtime, sorry to say but it ain't solving the problem. :/

Unless you know for a fact that your RAM is faulty, this is what I would do...

I would turn my pc off... unplug the a/c cord... take all the RAM sticks out except one... turn the pc back on and try the game with it for a long while to see if it has the same fate.

Do the same with all the Sticks of RAM on their own and let us know what happened... if it only fails with 1 and you have two then, there is your culprit.

If it fails with all of them then you know the RAM might be good and something else is the culprit.

How many sticks of Ram do you have now?

Are they the same? meaning... they all say PC2500 as an example and not 1 with PC2500, another one with PC1600 and so forth.

We will continue after you answer these two questions.

I have 2 sticks of RAM, they are both Kingston HyperX Blue 4Gb

Yes I've all in all 8 Gbs in total and its both the same model. Bought them at the same time, in the same store.

OK, sorry if this sound redundant but at my age I forget things fairly quick

• You did say that you tried taking both sticks of RAM and just working with 1 inserted and the other one out (not on your pc)?

• The you took the one out and placed the second one in and tried again and both times your computer fail?

• If that is the case, then try the following... repeat this method (1 stick of ram at a time) but instead of playing the game, load up your PC at night with software, open the browser, download a few tv shows, open all office products, run the antivirus, play a long HD movie on your CD/DVD, etc, etc, and leave it running all night to see if we can reproduce the same problem.

If the computer does not freeze, then we can safely say that the RAM may not be the culprit here and it may be either the game or the onboard video chipset and/or the video card (sorry can't recall which one you have at the moment ) and we can proceed.

No no, try with one stick of ram and run the game, if it crashes then restart and take out that stick and put the other one in. If it works then the other ram is faulty. Don't just restart with both sticks already in, do one by one.

Thank you M1GU31, as I stated before... English is not my first Language and I wish I could have explained it as simple as you did from the beginning

@flohr4233... yes, we need to load up your PC to test the RAM and find out if one of the sticks is faulty. But if you try it with both of the sticks then you will never know which one is bad or if both of them are bad.

Again, sorry for not explaining this easily.

When I tried what you asked me to try with one stick at a time, the same thing happend. Nothing changed, it still restart. And I tried both separated and together, it was not difference
