It was a very slow install and it boots up extremely slow. I'm talking a good 15-16 mins before I reach the desktop. I went from XP to Windows 7. Any ideas?

Did you UPGRADE instead of a clean install? That could be your problem, because your system specs shouldn't have any issues booting.

Should work, however, bad idea. It seem that quite a few people have had the same problem (not sure why). A clean install from XP to seven is truly the best way to go. If you are going to buy a new copy of Win 7 it would be a good idea (unless you just want to fool around) to wait until you have the Win 7 version that is going to suit you later down the line.

Yes...I upgraded from XP to Windows 7 instead of clean installing.

Microsoft doesn't even allow that anymore. With the final version of Windows 7 people will need to do a clean install (the "upgrade" option in the installer is disabled). There are good reasons for it. ;)

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.
Where about is this delay occurring?

During BIOS or while Windows is actually loading?

Try unplugging any USB devices like storage drives etc

If you have an Anti Virus installed, check that it's not doing a full system scan at each start up.

It's because you upgraded from it. You need to do a clean install.
