I had to see how that would look on the 7000. It should better on something a bit newer I imagine. Well the 7000 is the beta you want to try things out on first. :D

Is it the time difference or is just us Brits fretting over whether build 7070 exists or not.
Mind you I might have a go.
I'm on 7057 and loving it. I'm using it all the time and only going into Vista for Photoshop.
I've done five fresh installs in as many weeks and it's getting a bit tiresome but on the other hand I nearly didn't bother with 7057 and look what I would have missed.
Well. Bring it on I suppose.
Very clever marketing really. I'll be begging for it.

screenshots of Windows 7 Build 7070 comes out from guy who’s dad is working at microsoft sql division and he has managed to grab screenshots using remote desktop and posted at Facepunch Forum.

Here is what he says,
I just came back from Microsoft, since my Dad works there. He works for in the SQL server division and here are some screenshots I took about the new build 7070;
I don’t know if there is anything new to this build, but they installed it yesterday, so it probably will be leaked soon. They said it was a major update; maybe not to the user interface but more to the Kernel. Just letting you guys know :P

That's the same background option seen in the 7068 leak making you wonder if the two aren't simply the same as far as the main gui to start with. Some internal work on the kernel and other things should be the more valid explaination why too many too close are being seen in this short period of time.

Hi Studulike,

I imagine PS and Lightroom run well on W7 64 bit but I've only got a small partition for the W7 beta and I don't think I've enough room to put these programmes on it.
I suppose I'll have to extend the partition at some point if I'm gonna use it as my main os until next year.
Anyone got any suggestions for the best way to do that?

Best wishes to all, John:D

You would have to post a screen of your current partitioning seen in the disk management tool as well as look over how much free drive space available. With 4 satas(1 for storage only) and an ide drive added for additional setups I found the latest GParted releases reliable for resizing existing primaries.

Planning ahead of time by first backing up anything you need is the smart move just the same. With the amount of programs and files seen on 7 here I find anything less then 100gb cramped fast once you start using it regularly. This is why having a second drive or large single drive is a big help at times.

Hi all
After all these builds I just WON'T believe anybody on this forum saying that they have a problem installing Windows -- they should have enough practice at it. :D:D

It's getting a bit rediculous now with screenshots coming in of "Nightly" builds.

These could be designed for individual testers or manufacturers to see if any previous problems (drivers ?) have been fixed and won't necessarily have all the features in it that either PREVIOUS builds or the RC will have.

For me build 7048 is still the most stable and the one I've had least problems with and am sticking to that one for my main W7 usage.

I'll probably "have a go" with some other stuff.

I gave up on 7068 -- too many Video driver problems (on Laptop with Intel 965 chipset).

7057 was "OK" but not (IMO) as "Zippy" as 7048.

I "upgraded" from Beta 7000 mainly because of the later expiry date -- I'll be "swanning myself" on some nice beach in Jul-Aug so the last thing I want to do is mess around with installing a new version of windows before the old one expires.

I'll also let a few people try out the RC before I load it -- it WILL have some different features etc from the current build - and certainly some drivers / kernel modules will be different.

Cheers
jimbo

Added -- don't know about Lightroom but Photoshop CS4 runs very well (also in 64 bit mode). Don't forget if you ARE using 64 bit mode and Camera RAW you need to add the RAW conversion file to BOTH 32 and 64 bit libraries. There's a different module (has the same name) that you need to install in the 32 and 64 bit libraries

CameraRAW.8bi add to program files==>common files==>adobe==>plugins===>cs4==>fileformats

for the 32 bit module same directory path but start at programfiles (x86) ==> then as above.

I was thinking the same, but on 7068 media center isn't working with my dvb-s card so I may have to give it a go if 7070 does surface.

He's not the guy whose just been fired is he -- there's stuff over the web about how some guy let his child post a screen shot of build 7070 and then he (the Microsoft employee) was "Escorted of the Premises" and booted out of the door Post haste.

I was wondering about that, just tell the whole world that dad is "letting me steal from his employer". Maybe we won't see 7070 as soon as we thought.

My thought is that MS knows who it can trust and not. Like living in a small town. You know who can keep a secret. You also know just who to tell if you want something all over town in a couple hours. If the story of the firing is true, it just goes to show that they will punish you if you break that trust. And I don't blame them, although firing might be a bit much for a couple screenshots, but who knows all the circumstances.

I don't think any leaked build is an accident or a true leak. I think they are leaked intentionally else why do we not get leaks every couple of days?

The idea of software being intentionally leaked by software developers has been around for years. It is a perfect way that a developer can get possibly unstable software code tested without the comebacks if all goes horribly wrong. it also helps to build public interest in a project and lets face it Microsoft would want that to be the case.
The more people downloading leaked versions of Windows 7, the greater demand for a later build. Therefore when Windows 7 is finally released everyone on the planet bar a few will be rushing out to buy it.
Also it is like M$ putting back the RC1 release date to May, in turn increases demand.

The way you have to look at it is some things are never released, like the full inner workings of protection scemes, now they are always in demand so therefore someone working closely within developemt of these would no demand was so great they would just have to release the details, but they never do. Therefore there is a high level of trust going on within the company. So therefore don't you think there would be the same kind of loyalty within the same company when it comes to opperating system development. These people at the end of the day want to keep their sometimes highly paid jobs.

I beleive these leaks take place because microsoft want you to get your hands on the newer builds, therefore intentional leaks.

Again if they didn't want us to have them surely the first step to helping slow down or stop it would be to change registration keys and yet they don't. Earlier versions of Windows during beta stages they keys changes all the time.

Anyway just my thoughts.
