Windows 7 build number "changed"

Um...depends on what you think about the cars their selling these days :D

I just installed the new update and it really sped up my computer...it boots up before I hit the power switch and runs every program before I click on it.

When I wake up in the morning my coffee is already brewing and the morning paper is opened to the sports page, my car gets 10 more miles per gallon and my wife has stopped complaining.

Really a great update:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Can you also arrange an increase for me?:D

What r u using to make images in Win 7?

I use Drive Snapshot. Runs from a single exe (246kb). It's portable and can be coppied to a floppy or USB drive to run in DOS. I multiboot, so I just boot to another OS and restore.

Hello to all, I am new! This site is great! :D

Back on topic: I heard that with Vista, Microsoft did slipstream some updates to the Untouched ISO when it was released to technet/etc...so I would imagine it would be the same with Win7. :)

Got a shock!!!

I found this picture on the web [seems picture is provided by MSDN users that have build 16399 ISO]

What!! when you installed OS from the ISO there would be some installed updates as the control panel report!! its ok?! or just a stupid hacker integrated patches into 16385 to make another ISO?!

All that screenshot shows is a screen after someone installed those updates 1 by 1... nothing about MSDN...

Some third party BU utils are more flexible and faster. They have to be, otherwise there would be no point to them :D. One of the shortcomings for advanced users of the Windows BU is that you cannot restore an image of disk A to disk B, only back to disk A.

I use Paragon Drive Backup which like most others allows image of disk A to be restored anywhere it fits, plus has some partition management, differential BUs, and is very fast.

But probably for many users the Win 7 BU is fine.

It can under certain conditions, like there's no other available drive. But it wouldn't let me restore image A to disk B if disk A was present.

ah well, u see that's not wot i have in mind. so ok, my laptop currently has 160gb sata and i'm hoping very soon to replace it with a 500gb sata. thus i would clone the 160gb saving a disk image onto my external hdd then put it aside, bring in the 500gb load up the 7 dvd-rom select repair and point it at my image on external hdd and restore..and bob's ur uncle fanny's ur aunt as they say.
so in this scenario i believe this is how THAT'S done ;)

Shouldn't be a problem - it's one of the most likely if not THE most likely scenario they need to cover :D. It's when you have multiple drives available it tries to keep the original locations.

You find the stand alone installer for these "hot fix" updates which are floating around at various places on the net and install them. Each update has its own stand alone installer. However, if these hotfixes are really necessary, they will eventually be made available automatically through windows update. They are probably not fully tested at this point which is why they have not yet shown up on windows update and some of them may simply be "test" updates which are not necessary anyway. The safest course would be to just wait for windows update. Of course I just went ahead and installed them and haven't noticed any ill effects so far but I would recommend just waiting for them to show up on windows update.
