Windows 7 build number "changed"

You find the stand alone installer for these "hot fix" updates which are floating around at various places on the net and install them. Each update has its own stand alone installer. However, if these hotfixes are really necessary, they will eventually be made available automatically through windows update. They are probably not fully tested at this point which is why they have not yet shown up on windows update and some of them may simply be "test" updates which are not necessary anyway. The safest course would be to just wait for windows update. Of course I just went ahead and installed them and haven't noticed any ill effects so far but I would recommend just waiting for them to show up on windows update.

+1 Why risk it, wait until they are offered through WU...

btw ... nice sig there...

Thanks. Your sig was actually the inspiration for it. The only thing mine lacks is the 3d shadow effect around the edges.

Thanks Tews. I installed the rtm on my laptop with the updates slipstreamed into the iso. My build is still 16385, my WEI went down from 3.8 to 3.5, and my USB ports are cutting out often. I will try one of Zidane's lite builds later and see what happens.

I installed the rtm on my laptop with the updates slipstreamed into the iso.

I will wait for tomorrow. If members from msdn and technet gets the same build as we do then I will slipstream them.
I think there will be more updates coming this way..

After endless fustration and countless restarts for the last day and a half, my laptop now works perfectly. I did nothing to fix it! I went to Microsoft's help page for USB issues, then decided to try copying files between my external hard drives one last time before doing anything. All the USB ports have been working fine for the last few hours after cutting out every five minutes or so since yesterday. My WEI score went from 3.5 to 3.7 and Aero works during the tests again. The machine is running great, so I am leaving it alone for awhile. I don't know what changed, I did nothing, and I don't have automatic updates installed, I have it on the Let Me Choose option. I will try running another WEI test later to see if I can get the score back up to 3.8 like it was in the original RTM without the slipstreamed updates.

i'm confused. what's the story with this build? it's just got some hotfixes slipstreamed, right? i heard from someone that this may be the build that technet gets. but if so, the hotfixes still have to go live because OEMs got the older build, right?

i sure hope i don't have to reinstall again, i thought i was done for a while...

It's not really a different "build," at least for the moment.

There are simply a handful of updates/patches, some of which do alter build numbers.

It should be known within 24 hours or so what shows up places like Technet, and if these patches have been slipstreamed into the RTM somehow, or if they'll show up on Windows Update later. (Or, for that matter, they might not ever show up or get further modified before release, etc.)

I strongly suggest that everyone stay away from these updates. I have had major issues after installing them with my USB ports on my laptop, extreme slowdowns, and my desktop completely crashed twice. Without these updates everything has worked fine. There may be some benefit to them, but I have a feeling they are experimental updates. You have been warned.

Ok today is 2 december I'm using RTM.7600 for a long time and I didn't recive any of this updates for GDR, and I have seen that the updates vanish from a lot of sites for antipiracying. Hoever some peopele say that with this updates the pc boot's faster. The only ones that can tell us wat's the real version of windows 7 are only those how buyed an original Windows7 disc.

If you applied the fake/beta testing updates that the OP of this thread posted then you have a corrupted installation, just reinstall.

I got all the windows updates as normal so far using the windows update app.

You should only install the updates which comes directly from Windows Update. No need to dowload leaked updates, which Microsoft also advice not to do. No reason to get them. Or yeah maybe they make your pc faster, but wait till it get full released and the effect will be better.
