Windows 7 dvd burner

Hello,

Not sure if this in the right section. My problem is hardware/software related. I'll let you decide.

My DVD drive doesn't recognize any disc I put in it. I know the problem stems from using Windows DVD writing program. I have never used it before and had heard/read that it did a decent job. I created a folder of stuff to back up and I clicked the burn tab. After going through the steps it said burning to disc. After 10 min or so it said that the burn had failed. I figured Windows 7 DVD Burner was the problem and redid the backup with my usual program. All went fine with that. The next day when I turned on my PC there was a balloon saying I had files ready to burn - click here for ??? cant remember the rest. Anyway I clicked the balloon and a window popped open what was blank. It had nothing in the window or in the address bar or anywhere except the minimize, maximize, close buttons. A smaller "action" window opened in front of that one [not sure what that window is called]. It asked me to insert a disc. The only option I had were to insert a disc or press cancel. I pressed cancel.

This happens every time I restart my PC, and I can't find where this window is coming from to try to prevent it. I'm hoping that will fix my DVD drive. Until then this drive is useless.

I'm not sure your drive is useless if it worked with your other program, I've never had any problems with windows burner, anyway this tutorial should help with those messages,

Thanks for the link. It worked fine. Let me apologize for not doing a search for a tut before posting. I should have known there was one. There's one for every issue.

There are tut's for everything, It's hard to keep up with them.
