Thanks for that link; very interesting stats. Windows 8 sure isn't popular and those stats for Win7 are pretty impressive given how long Win10 has, and is, continuing to be pushed.

They can also narrow it down by region. In the UK where you and I are based it's 76% vs 16.8% which, by coincidence, is the same proportion as on my machines

First I have heard of that...there could be many reasons for that. Get her to register at tenforums.com so she can get some decent help with the issues.

I suggested tenforums, but she says she just needs something that works. She's not the least bit geeky, she says the Ipad works for her, and she's happy with it. If I were able to work without a mouse, maybe I would switch too. I spend more time maintaining my machines than using them. She has a family and a life outside her computers.

From a security standpoint, it was recommended 5 years ago that people disable Cortana and One Drive in Win 10.

I got that one and 3 unrelated others yesterday and I don't have ESU. I had previously installed all the available updates at EOL. I might post a new thread on the others just to see how I got them.

MS office 2010 has not yet reached End of Life it will reach its end of support on October 13, 2020, until then you can expect to see some minor bug fixes - these will not be likely to contain anything but fixes to known or potential issues

Or, Microsoft Office 2003, in my case. There's something to be said for 17-year old software. And for the Microsoft we knew at that time.

users need to be aware, wins 10 makes your hard drive run 24 - 7, that's how it increases speed. so get a new hard drive and do a transfer ASAP, or unplug the machine as Wins 10 will run your drive to death. This is what I am told anyway, corrections welcome.
As well I am told, wins 10 has zero privacy. SO not with my daughter you don't!.
plus I want a more simple experience, not a more complicated one, I wanna do the computer,
not have it "DO ME"

10 OS does not run HD continuously
And MS does not see everything you do on 10??
