Windows 7 End Support - Making transition to Windows 10 and Office 365

As far as I'm aware, Windows 10 will still accept Windows 7 licence keys when doing a clean install with 10 media, and that will automatically upgrade the licence to 10 once activated. I don't think MS has ever changed that, even though the free upgrade promotion has long gone.

I saw something on Youtube recently that showed you how to install Win10 for free. It looked relatively easy and I only watched it once out of interest but it began by establishing if you had a genuine Win 7 licence and if you did, you could install it. I did consider it but have since changed my mind.

Yeah, as long as you have a valid 7/8.1 licence then 10 will accept the key. I don't think MS will ever block people from doing this, as they just want to get everybody off Windows 7/8.1.

My thinking is, if it's not broke don't mess with it. I have been using Windows 7 for 9 years and haven't had one bit of trouble with it. I started with Windows 98 several years ago, then went to Windows XP, then 7. Windows 7 is by far the best I've ever used. I have family members who have 10 and absolutely hate it compared to 7, and I will continue using 7 until my computer dies. I had to laugh when I got the notice on my computer that Windows 7 was not going to offer the updates anymore, and saying to go to 10. The store logo's on the bottom of the notice is what made me laugh, showing offers of stores giving deals...LOL!!! I look at this as trying to force people to upgrade (if you want to call it that) or suffer any viruses or malware you might encounter. Gee thanks Microsoft, for turning the screws on the people who are already satisfied with what they have.

Old age prevents me from remembering exactly when I first got Windows 7 (32 bit) but it was a very long time ago.* Somewhere along the way, I disabled updates, since I had trouble with them on several of my PC customer's PC's. No updates, = No problems.

I'll be running Windows 7/x86 till either my PC or I die. Whichever comes first.

* I skipped Vista and went right from Windows XP to Windows 7/x86 and never missed a thing.
With a little tweaking and fiddling, Win-7 runs "Windows Mail" like a champ. It works just like Outlook Express, with all the 'Windows Mail' program files copied from Windows Vista.

Cheers Mates and Happy Independence Day!
