Okay I'm having a problem whenever I plug in a USB MassStorage device of any kind it causes my computer to freeze. I know it isn't a hardware issue, through my own trouble shooting (Trying different ports, trying different type of USB hardware like my mouse). I tried using a small USB Flash Drive as well as a External Harddrive that has it's own power supply, and I end up with the same result.

If I have the flash drive in the computer upon start up, I can navigate through BIOS and everything with ease, but as soon as Windows 7 starts up then it freezes. I want to make it clear that it doesn't bring up The Blue Screen of Death, it just freezes.

This problem didn't appear until about a month or two ago, and I installed Windows 7 on my computer about 5 months ago. If anyone has any idea on how to help me, it would be much appreciated.

I've double checked the device manager and I don't see any problems in there. I even looked under the Hidden Devices and nothing was wrong there either

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

Let us know if you need help with any of this.
