disable all add-ons on internet explorer, reinstall, graphics card drivers, update bios driver, and reinstall silverlight or install it if you don't have it. let me know if this fixes the problem, that's how i fixed it on my laptop.

I already updated my BIOS. Also installed newest drivers for everything when reinstalled windows. I don't even use internet explorer, anyway I disabled add-ons and installed silverlight - didn't help

What about that Power service, is it critical? Can it be safely disabled? If yes, then how to keep my sound enabled with "power" disabled?

Yesterday with no other options left I decided to completely downgrade to windows xp. I did a backup of important files and just before installing it I wanted to see the freeze for the last time. I turned on BFBC2 played a round, another one - didn't freeze, tried few other games, prime 95 - no more freezes. The strange thing is that I didn't do anything more to fix it. It sort of fixed by itself. I'm glad its all over, but I'm totally lost now.
