Hello,

I have had mu computer since November last year. Its a top of the range machine.

Windows 7 keeps freezing on me, and I have to force shutdown by pressing & holding the off button, as ctrl+alt+delete doesn't work (and nothing else does, either!).

There is nothing noteworthy in the application logs. There is no correlation between what I am doing on the machine and when the freezing occurs - it's totally random.

My boyfriend bought a computer at the same time as me (different brand) - and he is having the same exact problem. He is a computer tech guy, so he rebuilt his machine from scratch, but it is still happening regularly.

My machine cost a lot of money, and I'm scared it is going to get damaged because this keeps happening.

Please help!
Thanks

You will need to provide more information about the specifications of the computer. Has it been freezing since you got it? If not, do you remember the last software or hardware change that was done? The problem could be simple, but in order to solve it, we'll need more information. Please update your system specifications (make, model, hard drive size, RAM amount etc) so that help may be had. Don't worry about the 'freezing' breaking something.
Something is already broken or at least not set up correctly. There are tons of people here who have answers to any question.

Probably some software you both installed. I would check event viewer

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

Let us know if you need help with any of this.
