Windows 7 freezing when I browse the web for a bit

Hello,

Recently my Windows 7 started freezing for unknown reasons. My system ia fairly new and I.m having freezing issues. When I browse the internet for a while, my computer freezes and I cannot do anything. I have to physically restart my computer.

I read somewhere on the internet that I should try to run scan disk. I open up cmd and input the following: sfc /SCANNOW and around 12% my computer freezes again. When I play games, this does not happen at all. I play for 2-3 hours and my system is still smooth.

I proceeded to open up the event log and noticed some errors. One error dealt with kernel-power and the id is 41. I read a lot about this and nothing seems to have fixed my problem.

Can someone help me out here?

Browsing the Internet requires the network. Please check your network and/or wi-fi network adapter drivers to ensure they are the latest ones.

You mentioned there were a couple of errors. Were the event logs warnings, errors, or critical? You can sort on level. Please list the most serious (critical) first, with relevant information.

For the heck of it, check your video driver as well.

Within the last 24 hours, I have 10 critical errors and they all relate to Kernel-Power. The event ID is 41. Within the last 24 hours, I have 73 errors. The most common one is Application Popup and Service Control Manager. I have updated all of the drivers for everything and it seems a bit smoother now. However, when I run scan disk through the command prompt, it freezes after 12 percent. I can move my mouse around, but when I try to open/close/shutdown/task manager, it just freezes and does nothing.

EDIT: Some extra information. I accidentally messed stuff up in my BIOS so I loaded the optimized default. I did that for a while and I remembered that I have my OC settings saved in there. I have now loaded that and the problem still seems to occur.

Well the error is definitely because I have to physically reset my computer by pressing the reset button. It seems like when my computer freezes, there is 100% usage somewhere.

So, reading MS support ...

Run memtest86+ for 6 or 7 cycles to test memory

Disable OC

Possible problem with PSU/or underpowered?

Are you monitoring heating?

Yes I am. The temperature is perfectly fine. It doesn't seem like a PSU problem. It could be a memory problem though. I'm going to test it now.

Update:

I have narrowed the problem down to libusb 32 bit. Earlier this month I posted a problem about my usb ports not working. This was due to libusb. Ever since I installed libusb, a Windows 7 7600 build watermark has appeared on my desktop.

I think this 32 bit driver is messing up my Windows 7 64 bit. Could there be some kind of registry issue?

I see comments about problems with libusb and 64-bit OS. Also lots of talk about Vista, but not Win 7. Dunno why. Anyhow, can you uninstall libusb or roll back to see if this addresses the problem. If it does, you will need to find another solution to the usb problem - but one thing at a time.

Did you post a BSOD report on The Crash and Debugging section?

Those guys are specialists at reading the reports.

The report will show drivers, software etc. that will lead to BSoD's freezing, hangs, etc.

Check my post #3 on this thread.
Can't hurt and you might find the problem.

Mike

This will show you how to post the BSOD report as an attachment if you need it.
I wasn't sure if you knew already.
