Hi everybody, I've fixed many computers before but, I'm having problems with this one Gateway Laptop that if it need to restart for any reason, like a windows update or if it stayed long enough that it goes to sleep mode it will idle after it restarts and it will ask me to start normal or repair which I'll try to do normal but most of the time it will say it need to repair and will want to do a system restore, then I have to do some ticks to get it up again.
The thing is when its up and running, I have scanned it with malware bytes and with Microsoft Essentials it scans clean, I've used C Cleaner, Hijack This and most of the system shows healthy in the registry, I make sure I clean out the cookies and anything in the temp folder, I don't have any accelerators or weird toolbars on it, not even Google Chrome just a plain Google browser, I've reset and checked internet settings at the security levels etc., etc., however, as soon as wants to restart it gives me hell.
Other things I've done are after the system shows healthy and running good and updates, I go and delete all prior restore points and create a new one that in case I do have to restore it would be from a good last startup...
...But...
This is getting annoying cause I have to see this computer come to me over and over again, and not just a regular client, it my own teenager who after being lectured the do's and don't on the internet and has followed them cause I'm watching closely only to see if I get where the problem comes from, I've had to resort to my last option which according to me cannot be good for the health of any given laptop, which is..
Never shut down or go to sleep only dim the display (both on battery and power supply although I have it running on power supply always for the same reason).
My question for any savvy person out there willing to advise... what's happening and how do I fix this permanently?
I've upgraded from 32 to 64 bit to see if it would patch any missing files, (that seamed to work for another Lenovo Laptop, that works fine now but I did have to create a whole new user and delete the old one).
Any suggestions? Cause I'm thinking a fresh Windows 7 would do the trick but I'm trying to avoid it at all cost.
