Windows 7 Home Premium Stuck at Welcome screen

I tried to log on to my user yesterday, and when I type in my password, it goes into the normal loading screen that says "Welcome" and the loading circle next to it is spinning like it should. Except it stay like that. For hours. I've shut down my computer and tried to log in again multiple times. It keeps doing it. I have no hardware plugged in besides moniter, keyboard, and mouse. I pulled up safe mode but I don't know what to do. Help?

Some more info are needed. Is yours a desktop or a laptop ? What is the amount of RAM there? And what is the Motherboard/Graphics card.

This situation you described may occur due to various reasons . One of those is corrupted MBR . To fix it, run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html , and http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105541-startup-repair-run-3-separate-times.html if needed.

Sometimes it is due to RAM troubles. If you remove the RAM sticks, clean the edges with dry cotton cloth and reinsert those, it may work . Be Cautious ... before touching inside, make it sure that power is not connected.

I have experienced such a situation in past when I was using asus motherboard . Never faced it after upgrading to intel.

You see, I would do all of that stuff, but I'm not sure how to find any of that out. I have a desktop, by the way. If I have to log on and go to control panel to find these things out, I can't. I can't log on at all. I'm very techy, but I don't know how to deal with the Random Access Memory or the Motherboard.

I found Startup Repair. I ran it, but it said there were no problems detected. And it said this within a 60 second period. Any suggestions?

It is still not loading windows after successful completion of startup repair ? Before blaming RAM or GPU, have another test to make it sure that there is no violations in the system files .

I just ran some other tests and it brought me back to the log in screen. I tried to log in and it still is getting stuck at the "Welcome" screen. I followed the link but it said I have to download something to my computer and save it. I am on a laptop, not my desktop, so I cannot save the downloaded files to my desktop. I cannot log into my users on my desktop to download the files. I can't use the start menu, or the internet, or anything on my Desktop Computer. It isn't logging in. I can't find out my specs for that computer while it is like this.

So you have no information on the Motherboard, RAM and GPU of your desktop ?

With what you are trying those recovery options ... the Windows7 installer disk or a system repair disk ? Do you have an installer disk ?

Can you boot into Safe Mode? If so run a full scan with Malwarebytes

Check for infection. Download, write to flash stick or burn image to CD: Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper

If infection is found, you may need to run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times.
Archie earlier suggested this, so how many times did you run it then?

Please fill in your System Specs. Do you have a factory Recovery partition on the HD or have you made manufacturer's Factory Recovery Disks? What is the licensed version on the COA sticker?

I've had this computer for about 2 years. 6 family members. Nothing ever stays in place. I have no idea where these disks could be. I don't understand what you mean by Download, write to flash stick or burn to CD. I have unused CD's and Flash drives. Do I download them from my laptop?

I can't figure out anything so far. I don't know my System Specs. I can boot into Safemode.

To run the Malwarebytes test, is it under the repair option? If so, I can do that.
How do I figure out the version? Where is the COA sticker?

When you click the blue Malwarebytes link in my post, you'll see it is a threat scanner. Download, install and the update if you can get into Safe Mode with Networking, run a Full Scan.

If you have another Win7 machine of the same 32- or 64- bit version then make a System Repair Disk to boot to run Startup Repair. Otherwise use the System Recovery Options available also via F8 menu.

Report back the results of the virus scan using either MB or MSE options given, then what Startup Repair reports after running repeatedly.

Otherwise, you may download the repair disk iso images form the link specified in the first post of the thread http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/182947-win7-repair-disk-download.html#post1550905 .

The downloads are at the middle of the resulting page. Download the appropriate version for your home premium desktop . Burn it in a blank disk. As you cannot use the desktop, you are to download and burn using the laptop.

While the burn is completed, put the disk in the DVD drive of the desktop, and run Startup Repair for at least three times with restarting the machine after every single run .
