Windows 7 installation confusion. Partitions etc..

Hey,I am new to this site so be gentle! haha.

Bit confused at what to do here?

I want to install clean copy of 7 but unsure what to do here?

Picture attached.

Any help appreciated.

If you want to do a clean install, you would need to delete all partitions.

That will leave you with "unallocated space".

Then tell Windows to install to that unallocated space.

You might have to back up a screen or two from where you are in your picture. Look for a choice that says something like "drive options, advanced" toward the bottom of the screen.

Go to that tutorial and work through it step by step, carefully.

Where did you get the Windows installation disc?

Are you booting from that disc?

Yeah I get you but for whatever reason that option is not coming up?

If I find a solution and get the option to delete, which partition will I delete?

If i delete one over another could I cause damage etc?

As I said in my first post, delete them all.

Anything less is not a clean install and can only lead to confusion.

Make sure you have only 1 hard drive connected when you install.

Don't worry about formatting or anything like that. Windows will do what's necessary.

Just get the drive down to "unallocated space".

There are other ways to delete all partitions, but you need to get to the bottom of why you cannot do that in the ordinary manner after booting from that disc. For all I know, your disc is defective.

Partition D is labeled Data, if you have data on that partition and wipe it out, your data is gone.

Did you backup that data ? As in did you save it somewhere else ?

If you want to keep the drive as it is, just highlight the C partition(the middle one in the picture) and click next.

yeah I have all data backed up..

Not worried about that, was just conscious about deleting anything that would permanently damage the computer or make it impossible to start up. Am i being stupid?

No, you`re not beig stupid. Re read the tutorial I just posted again and start over, delete the drive to un allocated space as ignatz has suggested.

Make sure you are choosing Custom (Advanced) Step #6

Then simply click next. Windows should be done installing in 15 minutes.

Once you click next, you will not interact with the computer until you come to the screen asking to enter the account name.

Do not setup a password, leave it blank. You will Thank me later

And you do not have to enter a product key during installation, you can activate it later.

Since you are reinstalling your Toshiba the steps are here to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall Factory OEM Windows 7 including how to know which partitions to keep (I'd delete them all once you're sure you've backed up all data) and whether you want to create a data partition to keep your data separate so the System Image you back up after install (to use in place of future reinstalls) is smaller.

Be sure to follow the steps for how drivers are handled in Win7 which are so important they're printed in red, and not at all like previous OS's.
