Windows 7 invalid MS-DOS function

Hey guys, im trying to install a copy of Windows 7 Professional x64, obtained through my university's MSDNAA program, on my desktop. Through research, and another thread on this forum i have attempted to make a USB disk to load the .iso onto the desktop, however when moving the files from the iso onto the flash disk it returns the error "Invalid MS-DOS Function" when trying to copy/move the install.wim, install_Windows7 PROFESSIONAL.clg, as well as the other .clg files. What can I do to remedy this issue and get this thing to install?

The computer im attempting to do this on is my Windows 7Pro x86 laptop.

Yes, I followed that exact tutorial to the tee. I got through the diskpart steps with no problems, but when I go to drag-n-drop the files from the iso to the prepared drive, it gets probably 3/4 the way done then a dialog pops up saying that install.wim is an invalid MS-DOS function with options to Try Again, Skip, or Cancel. If I press try again it comes up with the same error over and over. If I press skip, it will give me the same error for the various .clg files being transferred.

It's been awhile since I made my last USB install flash drive.

But I remember making a folder of the DVD on one of My HD's

Then copying all the files to the USB through the CMD Dos Command with

Copy C:\win7files\*.* F:\

Where F: is the letter of the USB flash drive.

Is the Flash drive 4gb or larger ?

I just tried to copy the files from the iso to the flash disk using the cmd prompt, but it encounters the same error (Incorrect function).
The flash disk im using is an 8GB.

Do you have the .iso files opened & unpacked to a folder other than the desktop ?

At the moment the .iso is mounted to a virtual drive (using MagicDisk), and I was just trying to copy them over by browsing the disk. However, in a moment of inspiration I tried just using WinRAR to extract the .iso directly to the flash disk, and it seemed to transfer the files without error. I'll have to see if it'll actually boot, but at least the files are there. Thanks for the help!

We have seen issues with some of the ISOs coming from a "university's MSDNAA program" not being bootable, are you sure the ISO you have is bootable, have you checked to make sure?

I would assume that it is, if it is an iso of the standard Win7 pro install disk. I had gotten Win7 x86, and XP x64 through the same channel and had no problems what-so-ever with them. I haven't been able to test the USB disk that I made last night yet to see if it will indeed run, as I'm out of town for the weekend.

Unfortunately that did not work, so im guessing there is something critically wrong with the way the iso was prepared for the MSDNAA program, so im resorting to getting a hard copy of the OS. Hopefully that'll work, lol.

Do you know anyone that may have an installation disk that you could use to for the install and just use your key to do the activation?

The MSDNAA prog offers the option to obtain a standard install disk to be shipped to you, so im going to go that route. If it still doesn't work, then ill have to contact them and have them remedy the situation, or just go out and purchase a retail copy.

It doesn't have to be the exact same version though it would have to be the same bit-rate you want to install, you can create an 'all versions' installer, have a look at this tutorial at the link below.

Split install.wim?

Perhaps install.wim is just too big. You can use imagex to break apart install.wim in the iso:
