My Windows 7 Pro laptop goes to sleep by itself. I have the power settings set to NEVER sleep. But it does anyway.

I lock the computer (ctrl-alt-del) at the end of the day, and I turn off the external monitor power button. But I leave the laptop running.

The next morning, sometimes it's in sleep mode (usually, but not always).

If there were an automatic update taking place, I could understand an update/shutdown/restart cycle. But that only happens once a month.

Anyway, this is not a shutdown/restart: I push the power on button and the login screen says I'm already logged in, and I just need to enter my password. So it must simply have been in sleep mode.

I enter the password, and I see my apps still running. So clearly I've NOT been logged off.

Is there a fix? It's important because I sometimes need to remote access this PC from a client site, and I my arms aren't long enough to reach across the county to push the power on button! :)

The light weight tool called 'Insomnia' Should do the Trick...
This simple little tool will simply prevent your computer from going into standby while it’s running. Insomnia actually tries to disable sleep mode while it’s open and then puts the setting back to what it was previously on close.
You can also find other tools based upon your convinence......

Update Correction.....

That link is a scam site. It pretends to show a safe virus scan of the software, but that's a fake. And the download link points to a payday loan site.

I think I found the cause.
The power settings were set to Never sleep (first picture) ...

I clicked on Change advanced power settings ... (second picture) ...

I found the Hibernate after item set to 1080 minutes. I changed it to Never. I'll know tomorrow whether that fixes the problem.
