So my father's laptop has been working without problems for 3 years now up until now.

It will no go beyond the "starting windows" loading screen and when I try to boot it in safe mode it will hang on loading "classpnp.sys".

After maybe a 100 reboots it started and it worked for a while only to crash again showing a bsod (of which I have a picture) which I hope will help some.

I have already tried multiple fixes from the internet by looking up things like "safe mode freezes on classpnp.sys" but none of them have worked.

startup repair says there is nothing it can repair.

I will try to add a bsod dump if I can get it to boot again.

Your thoughts are very much appreciated. Many thanks!

Jorn

Hello BananaJohn and welcome to 7forums! :)

STOP 0x0000007A: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
Usual causes:
Memory, Paging file corruption, File system, Hard drive, Cabling, Virus infection, Improperly seated cards, BIOS, Bad motherboard, Missing Service Pack.

Also noted a little bit of a problem on the HP Support site, there are not drivers for 7, only 8, 8.1 and 10.

Hey Boris! thanks for the reply

This laptop has been working 100% correct for three years now so I don't think drivers are the issue here.

However, I tried to run some test with gsmartcontrol but these test would not finish. Can you tell me whether this drive is broken or not by looking at what gsmartcontrol says? I do lack the knowledge myself for this:C

Thanks,

Jorn
