I have a backup drive on my computer (G drive). When G is unhooked Windows will not boot from the C drive. Is there something written on the G drive that's preventing windows from booting off the C drive?

Hi Sevicetech and welcome to the forums. And thanks for filling in your specs
Do you have an OS in that drive? When you installed in drive C did you have both hooked? I suspect the boot records might be on that drive.
Please run bcdedit (this tutorial will help) and post the result here, it should tell us where things are.

I believe both drives were hooked when I installed 7, not absolutely sure though. No OS on the G drive, just files.

I'll try the BCedit thing.

I couldn't get BCDedit (opens window then shuts) to work under W7, here's the output from easy BCD:

There is one entry in the Vista Bootloader.
Bootloader Timeout: 30 seconds.
Default OS: Windows 7

Entry #1

Name: Windows 7
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

Sorry, I forgot to mention you have to raise the command prompt as an administrator to run bcdedit
The EasyBCD data shows the bootloader is in the correct place. Please check if your C drive is marked as Active, Boot (right click on Computer, Manage, Disk management)
let us know

C drive is marked Boot, G drive is marked system/active.
G drive is "disk 0" and C drive is Disk 1.
Something tells me I'm screwed...
