MY Windows 7 Media Center has has a way to connect to Internet but the satellite part of the software is missing? Is there different versions of the software that does not have the satellite capability?

Did you resolve your issue? What hardware are you using to obtain the satellite signal?

Windows 7 Media Center satellite connection missing

Thanks for your reply. I have not resolved the issue. I live in Canada and have checked different versions of the 7 operating system sold in this area and they don't have the ability to connect to a free to air satellite as part of the Media center. I am beginning to think that only the 7 O.S. sold in Europe have the Sat connection as part of the Media Center. I know it is there as I have seen the screens showing the sat pages posted on the web. I watch Free to air satellite with a computer I built up with a Prof 7301 sat card Smart DVB as a Sat program and a windows 7 operating system. I am hoping to find some who has an answer.

I guess I really can't help but I have satellite channels through a set-top box. It's through DirecTV with their standard secure-card control box. From the box, I run composite cables to my PC's tuner card. (Hauppauge 2250) In that configuration, Windows Media Center is able to download DirecTV's schedule and I'm able to change channels on the Sat-box via an IR blaster cable that came with the tuner card.

I'm not familiar with the Sat-Cards but if they present audio and video to WMC like a TV tuner card, it would seem to me that WMC could be configured to show the signal. How WMC is configured is the question. WMC needs to know whether the signal is over-the-air (ATSC), Cable (includes free signals) or Satellite. I'm sure this is so WMC can configure the TV card. The card must be recognized by Windows to load drivers but if drivers are included with the Sat-card, surely there must be a way for WMC to show the A/V program. It may be that WMC could be configured using the Cable option, I don't know but that would be the direction I'd pursue.
