Windows 7 not genuine - build 7600 0xC004F009

Hi there

Hoping someone can help me resolve this issue. I've recently bought a pc second-hand for me son (dat minecraft). It came with the genuine windows 7 software, both the 32 and 64 bit cds. The bloke I bought it off said he'd done a clean reinstall before I bought it. When I got it home and booted it up, i get a black screen with the build 7600 error in the bottom right corner. I've re-entered the cd key but that didn't work, I've also rang the automated line at microsoft but that didn't sort the issue. Can anyone give me an idea as to what to do next? Is this a counterfeit copy , even though I have the discs? Also, the sticker on the side of the tower says it was designed for vista, don't know if that make any difference or not.

Unfortunately, yes, it is counterfeit. The licence is for an MSDN account which can never be sold. I recommend you contact the seller and try to get a return.

Hold on...if you are lucky, Microsoft might come to your rescue. Sometimes if you report counterfeit Windows, Microsoft may gift you a genuine licence for you trouble. You have nothing to lose.
