Hello everyone,

I'm trying to make a copy of a workstation (Win7 Pro 32bit) and run it on virtual box or virtual pc. The image has been created with disk2vhd and the image strangly works with hyper-v, but when I use virtual box or virtual pc I get a bsod.

Does someone know how I can make this work voor virtual box/pc?

Thank you in advance.

Hi there.

Are you actually creating a VM from your PHYSICAL machine (P2V).

Ensure you have the LATEST version of VBOX. Fiddling around with APIC settings too might help.

Forget Virtual PC though - it's now deprecated - use VMware player (free) instead if you need an alternate to HYPER-V or VBOX -- in this case you'll need the FREE VMWARE converter tool.

Cheers

Your awesome for reading this.
Thank you for both of your replies!

It seems that inside virtual box the vhd that you import is automatically added as an SATA disk. When I removed it from sata and added it as an IDE device, it all worked. I'm really glad that I don't have to go to Virtual PC. I wasn't aware of a free VMware alternative. Maybe I'm going to check there product sometime.

Thanks again for the help!
