My computer had a crash and I tried to restore it and everything came back except for my internet connection. I get the error message that network hardware can't be found. It's as if I never had access to the internet and I did earlier that day. When I go in the device manager I get these messages and I don't know if any of them would affect my internet connection. Can someone help me with this. I am new to computers?

1. Direct memory access controller - says “ No drivers are installed for this device
2 .High Precision event timer - says “ No drivers are installed for this device
3. Intel (R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family SMBus Controller - 3B30 - says “ No drivers are installed
for this device
4. Numeric data processor - says “ No drivers are installed on this device
5. Programmable interrupt controller - says “ No drivers are installed for this device
6. System Speaker - - says “ No drivers are installed for this device
7. System timer - says “ No drivers are installed for this device

Montel thanks you!

Thanks for responding,

I went to HP's site as you recommended and it didn't have anything specific to this # listed (Intel (R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family SMBus Controller - 3B30}. This is what it lists, can I use one of the 2 that they have listed? 1. Intel Chipset Support for Microsoft Windows 2. Intel Management Engine Interface Driver. Should either of these fix my problem and if not what else can I do? Keep in mind I am using another computer to communicate with you. I read somewhere that I should use a USB stick to download the drivers and then install them to the computer.

Montel thanks you!

Install both Drivers listed under the Chipset ... And yes use a USB stick to transfer the Drivers ...

Post back with any missing Drivers after you have done the Install ...

Hi there,

I did what you recommended, The computer said the install was successful yet I still get this message (Intel (R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family SMBus Controller - 3B30 - says “ No drivers are installed
for this device) when I go to Device manager under system devices and I still don't have access to the internet. I installed this and this and this
1. Intel Management Engine Interface Driver
2. Intel Chipset Support for Microsoft Windows
3. Realtek Ethernet Driver (International)

Thanks Montel

Hi thanks for responding.
However, I went to HP site and it shows several chipsets but nothing specific to this (Intel (R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family SMBus Controller - 3B30). Will it matter if I install what they have listed 1. Intel Management Engine Interface Driver and 2. Intel Chipset Support for Microsoft Windows?
Thanks

Hellow,

Can someone tell me how to do this, SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker? When I click on "run" for command prompt it says that I have to be the administrator to use this command. How do I get in command prompt as an administrator?
I can access it under just command prompt but I cant run a scan.

Thanks

Montel

Try loading defaults in BIOS (Setup when you first start the PC, either in the first screen or exit menu).

Then download and make a bootable DVD/USB for Linux Mint MATE (you can use Rufus to make a bootable USB with the downloaded ISO file). Boot with it (no install needed) and see if you have a connection. If not, I would say NIC has gone bad.

I did the CMD and it came back with "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations". So here I still sit with no internet connection. What next?

Thanks

After the Chipset Driver Install that should have fixed most of your Drivers problems ...

This leads me to think there might be a Hardware issue ...

I would go with GokAys solution ...

I don't understand what could have happened. the computer was working fine one minute. Then i cut it off for a few hours and come back. the computer has a crash and I do the restore and everything works fine except the network. I don't understand what GoKay is saying. I told you all I was very new at this and don't want to do any damage to the system.

Thanks for trying though

Start of with Resetting the BIOS to Defaults ...

. Turn on or restart the computer.

As soon as the computer is turned on, press F10 before the system boots to the operating system to enter Computer Setup. Press Enter to bypass the title screen, if necessary.

NOTE: If you do not press F10 at the appropriate time, you must restart the computer and again

press F10 before the unit boots to the operating system to access the utility.

You will not see the BIOS setup screens.
