Hey everyone, sorry for opening new post right after I registered.

I have two quick questions

1.Can I somehow repair Windows 7 system files and OS itself ?(reason : I am experiencing some unusual things, for example, I cant drag any icons to bottom row on my screen, right above taskbar itself and my OS installation is pretty old now about 2-3y)

2.If I can and If I do the procedure, would I have to reinstall programs that I have on my PC or will they stay installed and will their entries remain in registry ?

Basically I am looking for a way to refresh my OS installation without reinstalling all the programs I have, if you think I am going the wrong direction here please point the way :)

Welcome to the forum. The best way is to do a clean install and reinstal software after as you dont know if the current software is the problem

You could try a repair install. You will need installation media. You also need to have your windows license key, or back up the activation beforehand.

I was hoping to first try anything that doesn't involve me reinstall my programs since I have many and it often takes me a whole day or even two to do that, for now I am looking for simple process that wont take much time.

Right now I will wait for all possible options you guys can provide and them I will go from best one to least favorable one :)
Thanks btw

open a command prompt as the administrator (in accessories, right click on Command Prompt and select the administrator option). Type in-
sfc /scannow

let it run. If it finds any problems, reboot and run it again.

I hear you. Takes me a week to install all my programs and customize each one and the OS. Do you have a recent backup image?
