Please let me clarify. I was only talking about the clean installation of Windows 7 and not the updates and third party programs. Clean install of Windows XP Pro was a tedious process taking at least 45 to 50 minutes. You too confirm the Windows 7 part.
For me the installation of third party programs is a gradual process spread over several days except for MS Office, Avast A-V and Comodo firewall that I install immediately after the Windows clean install. As for updates, the the programs get automatically updated in the background and generally don't need much of my time.

Your system must be on some kind of wonder drug. I is true that running the installation disk takes only 25 minutes. But then you get updates during at least 2 days, have to install a lot of programs (about 50 in my case) some of which take hours to download, have to make all the system and program settings.I have found that the time taken to clean install Windows 7 is hardly 20 to 25 minutes
Bottom line: the whole process takes about 3 elapsed days with about 10 hours of work.
