Please let me clarify. I was only talking about the clean installation of Windows 7 and not the updates and third party programs. Clean install of Windows XP Pro was a tedious process taking at least 45 to 50 minutes. You too confirm the Windows 7 part.

For me the installation of third party programs is a gradual process spread over several days except for MS Office, Avast A-V and Comodo firewall that I install immediately after the Windows clean install. As for updates, the the programs get automatically updated in the background and generally don't need much of my time.

Your system must be on some kind of wonder drug. I is true that running the installation disk takes only 25 minutes. But then you get updates during at least 2 days, have to install a lot of programs (about 50 in my case) some of which take hours to download, have to make all the system and program settings.

Bottom line: the whole process takes about 3 elapsed days with about 10 hours of work.

I hardly ever go through the trouble because as you have guessed right, I almost always restore the latest image in about 9 to 11 minutes. It was for the benefit of those who do not keep images.

What imaging program do you use. I have never restored in only 10 minutes. And normally I do that from an internal Sata to the SSD.

I use a boot disc created by Acronis TrueImage 2011. The size of my final full image is 7.71 gigs with normal compression. The number of program sub-folders in the Program Files Folder is 48. And it takes between 9 to 11 minutes to restore everything on an internal SATA Disk drive. I do not verify the image before restore because the it had been verified immediately after it was created.

Thanks for the info. The short restore time is probably because you have a very small image. Mine are bigger.

I have two SSDs installed in my PC, one for Windows 7 and the other for storing data, like System Images. I love it because backing up and restoring my Windows 7 installation takes just a couple of minutes.
