Hi guys,

I hope someone can give some tip how to fix following problem:

I have training class which include one teacher laptop and six studen laptops. All laptops same brand and model with windows 7 pro 64-bit installed. Laptops have static ip because those are used only on training purposes and without internet connection (means that laptops are connected to small workgroup switch and can see each other)

Anyway, on teacher's laptop has started act weirdly right after the installation: If LAN cable is connected, but no internet connection available, on logon, welcome screen hangs 30 sec. and after user profile has been loaded, it still search network connection and as long as network searching is ongoing eg. autocad cannot be started or it will start right after network searching has ended and windows has noticed that no internet connection available.

If I logon without LAN cable connected --> everything works fine and fast!

I have disable all kind of references to websites and all other stuff from registry, changed background pics etc. Laptops are not joined to domain.

i have searched all kind of forums regarding to this problem but no master solutions founded. Firewall is disabled and only Ms Security essential installed

Any tip for this?

Disable Microsoft Security Essentials in a classroom environment if you are not connected to the internet.

Make sure your start page is set to "Blank" or a local machine URL in your browser.

In a classroom environment, and assuming your pupils do not, or can not, ( you can set things up to prevent this), load any malicious software! Then set your internet settings to "Local Intranet" or "Trusted Sites";

Also, download and run this to ensure your machine is not being affected by malware;

Hi Mike,

No progress with those tips you told
I forgot to mention that I have already uninstalled MS Security Essential once --> no help
Weird thing is that right after I type password on logon screen, user profile loads slow with LAN cable connected to dummy switch.

Yep you are right about internet usage: no change to use, because in normal case no internet connection available anyway.

All programs seems to be hanging as long as that windows 7 sandglass has disappeared from the network icon at taskbar
